THE IMPACT OF ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT ON THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF A STATE

ABSTRACT
The impact of entrepreneurial development in any developing economy can never be over emphasized as result of the its exponential developmental capacity through small and medium scale businesses that  are springing up in every nook and cranny of the country almost on daily basis.  It is as a result of this that the subject matter “ entrepreneurial development “ would be treated  from the perspective of small and medium scale enterprises in the country. The vibrancy noticed in this sector in the recent years has attracted the attention of government and global agencies clamouring for better avenues for creation of more standard and vibrant small and medium scale enterprises as a result of its great impact on the nations’ economy.    This research work was therefore embarked upon to determine the impact of Small–scale enterprises in the development of Nigerian economy. The research work was carried out using a structured questionnaire, simple percentage and findings.  They include scope and nature of small and medium scale enterprises, sources of find available to small and medium scale enterprises, problems militating against small and medium scale enterprises, the impacts and contributions of small and medium scale enterprises in economic development of Nigeria, and government policies towards small and medium scale enterprises. This research should not therefore, have come at a better time than now because it will provide an opportunity for any person who may read it, to appreciate what small and medium scale enterprises are to the entrepreneurial development of the Nigerian state.
