ABSTRACT
The study introduces and at the end, reveals the position of structural realist theorist to the effect of cold war era on the decline of Soviet Union soovereignty as superpower within the international system. The theoretical framework of defensive structural realism championed by Kenneth Waltz (1979) is descriptively presented while the concluding remarks reveals the ideological stands and sole hegemon in the international system.
