POST COVID-19 ERA: EFFECTS AND TRANSFORMATION OF SECONDARY EDUCATION IN NIGERIA

Covid-19 pandemic has caused education disruptions and prolonged school closures all around the world, which affected nearly 95% of the world’s student population. This paper holistically looks into Post COVID-19 crisis: Effects and Transformation of Secondary Education in Nigeria. Theoretical frame, Concept of Secondary Education, COVID-19 Effects on Secondary School Students were x-rayed and some of the resultant effects that may likely occur after COVID-19 were highlighted. They are: Secondary School Student dropout, Underage pregnancy and Academic setback. Post COVID-19 Era and Secondary Education System Transformation was discussed where the paper divides into stages. The first phase explained how the schools could adapt with Post COVID-19 Era and set a template for academic process, second phase highlighted how to build education continuity in terms of academic recovery and the third phase looked into speedy education recovery of what had been built in the previous stages. Combining these stages would bring about academic transformation in secondary schools in Nigeria. Conclusion was made that the stages suggested in this paper, if properly adopted would bring about secondary education transformation in Nigeria.
