ABSTRACT rhe study was an investigation between retention and employee performance. rhe objectives of the study was intended to find out the effects of retention on =mployee performance. To asses the barriers for the adoption of retention and banking services by the employees. To indentify the methods used in measuring employees satisfaction. The study used various data collection methods these included self administered questionnaire and interview guide in addition to secondary data source. Data analysis was done by use of graphs and charts From the findings, it was revealed that interpersonal skills, good working conditions, welfare services among others can help in measuring the effects of retention. Also from the findings it was revealed that poor reward, time pressure, poor working condition among others are one barriers in retention of employees. The study recommended that retention and employee performance would be successful if there is comprehensive and assessment of retention, also the need to design effective system and see sear standards; there fore performance can only be achieved by retaining employees but instead ways of motivating them.
