ONLINE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ RECORDS SYSTEM (OUSRS) OF KAMPALA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY

ABSTRACT

This research study is about the Online University Student’s Records System. A system aid in

the management and operation of university students records. Kampala International University

was chosen as the case study area also the study covered a period of three months from June

2008 to September 2008.

Online University Student’s Records System is carefully designed basing on good security

practices that may lead prevention of data loss, misplacement and redundancy. The methods that

were used to gather information about current system include self administered questionnaires,

Literature or documentation, and observation alongside Focused Group Discussions (FGD). The

method applied attempted to establish and analyze the status of the problem, appraising its

effectiveness where problems existed, to try and find solutions/remedies.

The literature review elaborates and gives a detailed perspective of Management Information

Systems, Information Security and databases as viewed by different authors.
