ABSTRACT
THIS RESEARCH WORK FOCUSED ON MOTIVATION
AND PERFORMANCE IN THE Enugu State Ministry of Health,
(M.O.H.) comprising both the Local Government and State
Health workers. Materials for the study were gathered
primarily through interviews, observations and questionnaires.
Also secondary data, were collected from the database of the
State Health Management information system (HMIS). From
the data collected, the researcher found that workers are more
active in health facilites with adequate frugs, equipments,
security, occasional trainings and regular salaries
(morivations) as these translate to high patients attednadnce
or patronage.
The situation is not the same in facilities were health
workers are not well motivated. Arising from this some
recommendations were made among which are: the need for
regular supply of drugs followed by proper accounting system.
The state should also embark on aggressive structural
rehabilitation of health facilities and also proper training and retraining of staff.
