Information age - millions/billions of content creators and consumers across the globe are creating sharing &

consuming information in various formats on all manner of things/issues.

Challenge to consumers - how to absorb such vast amounts of information as well as determining the credible information from the proliferation.

Media and information literacy (MIL) competence is therefore a necessary response to our information-laden environment that enables citizens to negotiate the complex web of media messages and information sources now available to them.
