LEARNING DISABILITIES

The purpose of this paper is to discuss learning disabilities (LD). Conceptual framework was developed to understand the meaning of the concept – learning disability, who they are, their characteristics and the various types. The paper found out the causes of learning disability to an individual, the inherent signs and symptoms among varying ages, problems associated with learning disabilities such as –social adjustment, motivational difficulties and poor social cognition. This paper is of the view that with the effort of librarians in determining the information needs of those with learning disabilities the appropriate techniques, tools and methods, can be applied so that children with learning disability will be adequately taken care of thereby recording significant improvement.
