INTERNATIONALIZATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN NIGERIA: A CROSS- BORDER EDUCATION PERSPECTIVE

Internationalization of higher education is a concept that has been in existence for decades and it is no longer regarded as a goal itself, but as a means to improving the international relations among universities and the quality of education. Despite being a long-standing phenomenon, there has been an emergence of new mechanisms and strategies of collaboration between universities geared towards the exploration of the various aspects of internationalization within higher education institutions. There is a great difference between the developed and the developing nations in terms of development and global citizenship education. These differences can be tackled and reduced by the internationalization of higher education institutions at a global level. In today’s age of global knowledge and technology, there is an increasing high demand for interconnected network and global awareness. The Nigerian labour market being highly saturated now demands for graduates that have international, foreign language and intellectual skills.
