IMPACT OF SMALL SCALE BUSINESS ON THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF YOLA SOUTH

ABSTRACT The contribution of small scale industries to the economic development of Yola South. It traces that, small scale enterprises accounted for about 70% of the manufacturing establishment. It also highlight on the contribution of small scale industries such as employment generation, and greater utilization of raw materials. It also state some of the problems militating against the small scale industries such as lack of capital, poor management, lack of encouragement by the government and other individuals. Finally, the researcher suggested many ways by which industrial organization and government can assist to make small scale industries play more role in economic development of Yola South. Base on response of management staff of Adamawa Plastics limited and various customers in Yola South, and various analysis from the research question, it can then be established that small scale industries create employment also lead semi skill labour to become skill labour and become a specialist at the end. Apparently, in the research questions the researcher discovers that lack of capital is one of the major factor affecting the growth of small scale industries. Finally, the government discovers that there is poor incentive by government towards small scale industries.
