Since commercial banks operations are vital for economic advancement, factors that impair its operations will have a negative effect on economic development. Hence, it is important to know these factors. Fraud is one of the major causes of problems that face the commercial banks. Hence, the researcher deemed it imperative to search further into all that is necessary to be known about fraudulent practise in banks. The purpose of this research work is to provide information through which fraud can be detected, prevented, eradicated for efficient operation of commercial banks and to compare the level of fraud in the old generation banks to that of the new generation banks. To this end, this work is divided into five chapters. While chapter one deals with general introduction, chapter two review of relevant literature. In chapter three, the various method used by the researcher to collect data were examined. Chapter four however dealt with data presentation and analysis. Hypotheses made were tested for acceptance and rejection using chi-square. The summary of findings was made by the researcher in the last chapter. Conclusions were drawn from findings and recommendations were thereafter made.
