ABSTRACT

The study was carried out to investigate low achievement in mathematics at secondary school level has along standing problem particularly because mathematics knowledge was indispensable as it was indirectly integrated into the fields of industry and research. It was considered the backbone to all career developments, job opportunities and further training. the purpose of this study was to determine the factors influencing the performance of mathematics among secondary schools students in Manga Division Nyamira District. The study was carried out with an objective to find the effect of student's attitude teaching resources materials and teacher's qualifications on the performance of mathematics among secondary schools in Manga Division in Nyamira District. vas conducted in Manga Division Nyamira District. The population of the study was form three students rom 13 secondary schools in Manga Division. The head teachers of the schools under study constituted the trget population of the study. he study sampled 4 schools. Equal number of 20 students was selected from each form three class, 2 mathematics teachers per school and the head teacher of each school. Questioners were administered to three groups. This included the teachers of the subject under study, the form three students selected and the head teacher of the sampled school.
