ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT: THE ROLE OF GOVERNMENT SUPPORT AGENCIES IN ENUGU STATE, (A CASE STUDY OF ENUGU STATE AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (ENADEP)).

ABSTRACT The aim of this research work is to appraise the role of entrepreneurship Development: The Role of Government Support Agencies in Enugu State (A Case study of Enugu State Agricultural Development Programme (ENADEP) Enugu).  The broad objective of this research include the following: to identify the challenges impending the effective and efficient implementation of planned programmes for entrepreneurship development in the state.  To ascertain the level at which government have played its role in the development of entrepreneurship in the state.  For a successful completion of this research work, the researcher made use both primary and secondary method of data collection for information gathering, primary data were collected through: Questionnaire administration, oral interview, and personal observation.  Secondary data were collected through; periodicals and journals textbooks, and lecture and note books, and internet.  The data collected were presented in tables and analyzed with simple percentage while the hypotheses stated were tested with chi-square.  The summary of findings made for the purpose of this research study include the following: the researcher discovered that 16% strongly agree that sufficient fund is available to fast track the development of entrepreneurship in Enugu State, 24% agreed, 40% disagree, 14% strongly disagree and 6% undecided.  Therefore, sufficient fund is not available to fast track the development of entrepreneurship in Enugu state.  In conclusion, government support agencies participation in entrepreneurship has encouraged the spirit of entrepreneurship among Enugu state inhabitants.  Government has played its role adequately.  The researcher recommend that the government with its agencies should increase their support for the entrepreneurial/ vocational programs as part of the tertiary education system.
