Nigeriaislikelytobeoneofthemostnegativelyimpactedcountriesintheworldasaresultof

climatechange.Itsrisksareparticularlyhighasaresultofitslowlyingcoastlinethatishighly

populatedwithaheavyconcentrationofGDPgeneratingindustryandinfrastructure.The

NorthernpartofthecountryformspartoftheSahelwhichisatriskofdesertificationand

droughts.Flooding,watershortages,increaseddiseasesandassociatedsocialdisruptioncould

wellgiverisetoaviciouscycleofeconomicdegradationandsocialconflict.

ThesectorsofNigeria’seconomywillbeimpactedbyclimatechange,butinparticular

agriculture.Infrastructuresuchaswater,transportandpowerarealsosusceptibleandwillresult

inknockoneffectstootherpartsoftheeconomy,especiallywholesaleandretail.Itispossible

thatsomeaspectsoftheeconomymaygain,suchastheproductionandsalesofrenewable

energy,floodprotection,medicine,buildingcoolingequipmentetc.

Thisstudyhasidentifiedbroadrangeofactionsandstrategies,highlightingthosethatmaybe

relativelycost-effective.Manyrelatetostrengtheningtherobustnessandresiliencetoagriculture

relatedimpacts.
