CAUSES OF THE INEFFECTIVENESS OF THE COOPERATIVE SECTOR IN DEVELOPING THE ECONOMY (CASE STUDY OF KRPC MULTI PURPOSE COOPERATIVE SOCIETY KADUNA)

ABSTRACT This study finds out the Causes of the Ineffectiveness of the Cooperative Sector in Developing the Economy. The design chosen for this study is the survey design. This is a design in which a group of people or items are studied by collecting and analyzing data from people or items considered to be representatives of the entire group. The total population used of the two societies is 290 members and the sample size is 203. Research questions what are the causes of the ineffectiveness of the cooperative sector in developing the economy. The data was presented using table constructed in rows and columns. Research finding show that cooperative sector if well organized and managed will provide the platform for economic growth and development of any economy in the world and the strategies of business activities adopted by cooperative sector is quite effective improving the socio-economic condition of its members. It was recommended among other that government should improve its participation toward cooperative development in Nigeria. Various policies and effort should be put in place that could mobilize the public to join the cooperative movement.
