ASSESSMENT OF INTRA-URBAN AUTO-RICKSHAW SERVICES IN LAGOS STATE: THE CASE OF ALIMOSHO L.G.A (IYANA PAJA AXIS)

Aim & Objectives

Aim: The aim of this research is to assess intra-urban auto-rickshaw (tricycles) operations and services with a  view to establishing policies that can enhance intra-urban travels in Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos. Nigeria.

Objectives: The specific objectives are to:-

i. Assess the operations of Auto-rickshaw services in selected route of Alimosho LGA, Lagos.

ii.  Examine  socio-economic characteristics of auto-rickshaw operators and  passengers in  the study area. 

iii. Evaluate the travel characteristics of  passengers in the study area.

iv. Analyse factors responsible for Auto-rickshaw patronage in the study area

Scope of Study

The study of intra-urban rickshaw transportation services along Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos state is confined to organized auto-rickshaw operators in Alimosho L.G.A only. This study concentrates on the general assessment of auto-rickshaw operation, how the operators travel along the routes, commuters perception on auto-rickshaw patronage in the area, and also their satisfaction   on   the   intra-urban   movement.   This   study   also   covered   the   socio-economic characteristics of passengers, travel characteristics of passengers and also the operation of auto-rickshaw services in the study area.
