Analysis Of The Right Of A Person Serving A Death Sentence In Uganda. A Case Study Of Luzira Prison In Kampala.

This study was designed to critically analyse the rights of people serving death sentence 1n Uganda, a case study of Luzira prison. The subject of analysis included looking at different laws: both international and domestic laws that safe guard the rights of people on death row. The study was based on research questions, and found that, Laws to protect the rights, of the people. on death penalty has limited its efficacy. From present, it is seen that so many countries, are on the verge of abolishing death sentence in a bid to protect people's rights, regardless of the crime they had committed. So many decisions have been passed, protecting the right to life, but to some countries like Uganda it has become a myth, as the inmates of Luzira on death penalty are sti II waiting for its removal. This problem is not on the law, but the enforcement and the makers of' the laws. They should make e!Tective laws that address the right to life, and abolish arbitral laws, like death sentence.
